Brand Salience of Nike


Very few people and even fewer brands have managed to become synonymous with pop culture in the 20th century. But in the last few decades, Nike has become a Titan of the sporting world, as well as part of the daily lives of millions of people everywhere. Nike, Inc. is an American multinational corporation that is engaged in the design, development, manufacturing and worldwide marketing and selling of footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories and services. The company was founded on January 25, 1964, as Blue Ribbon Sports, by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight, and officially became Nike, Inc. on May 30, 1971. The company takes its name from Nike, which represent the Greek goddess of victory.

Not many brands could make place in customers mind as the world famous brand Nike did. It is worth mentioning here that it creates such an image in customers mind that they actually feel strong as well as confident by using Nike products. When people are asked to think about any brand which is related to sports they say the name of Nike. Brands with a logo which customer can recall instantly, is a successful brand instead. In this case Nike holds the topmost position. There is very little possibility that a person who loves sports, saw the logo of Nike and cannot recognize it.  Nike does not even have to use its name on the logo unlike other brands. The most famous Nike Swoosh is a single curved line goes thicker at the end. When Nike first started its journey it used to put the brand name with the Swoosh but after experiencing a great success, the brand realized that the distinctive shape works on its own. People start recognizing the shape no matter the brand name is there or not.



As the tagline says “Just Do it” Whenever people are feeling hesitation in their mind about whether they can do it or  not, Nike is there creating awareness that they can do it and inspire them to go for it. Nike creates awareness that makes people use inner strength. Nike always creates such an impression that it is with the people when they need it. People can relate themselves with the brand as the brand successfully linked itself with customer’s passion. Nike creates its awareness such a manner that people start to think that, for achieving what they want, Nike is a must! As for creating awareness Nike attacks people by storytelling of real life successful sportsman, showing their achievement which inspires the customers.




For different need people choose from Nikes different Categories of product.People actually go crazy for buying from Nike. “One queue became an "angry mob" after a limited-edition midnight shoe sale was cancelled because of "safety concerns",  that’s what ABC news reported. This report explains the popularity of Nike products very clearly. It’s on the top of the list when people thinking about buying something sporty.




For conclusion there is not many sentences needed to prove that Nike was able to create a great awareness among the people that they feel very confident about putting Nike on the top list while buying their product. They don’t need to have any second thought about it. And clearly Nike was able to do what it wanted to do.
